Beitou Private Hot Spring Rooms: Book or Walk In?

Every Beitou hotel does it differently — knowing whether a place takes bookings or runs a queue cuts your waiting time.

"If I just turn up on a weekend, can I get straight into a private hot spring room in Beitou?" It's the question everyone asks when planning a Beitou day trip. This guide is based on official information from Beitou hot spring hotels, as of October 2026.

02 · Booking vs. walk-in: what's the difference?

✓

With a booking, be on time Kagaya holds a reservation for only 10 minutes, and if you arrive late your session ends at the original time rather than being extended. Leave plenty of time for the MRT transfer.

✓

For walk-ins, go early Places like Sweetme that don't take bookings serve guests in order of arrival. Queues can be longer on weekends and holidays, so aim for the morning or early afternoon.

✓

If a hotel does both, call ahead At places like Beitou Asia Pacific that take both walk-ins and bookings, calling to ask about free slots is the surest option.

03 · Rules to know before your Beitou soak

✓

Rooms are mostly for two The private rooms at these hotels are priced for two, and some larger rooms take up to four. Rules for children (height or age) differ by hotel.

✓

No food in some rooms Kagaya doesn't allow food inside its private rooms, for hygiene reasons.

✓

Bring your own toiletries In line with government policy, Kagaya stopped providing single-use amenities in January 2025. Pack a toothbrush and similar items yourself.

04 · Getting around Beitou on a rainy day

1

Take the Xinbeitou branch line Change at Beitou Station on the Tamsui-Xinyi Line for the branch to Xinbeitou, which brings you right to the edge of the hot spring area.

2

Rain can mean longer queues More people may head indoors for a soak instead of sightseeing, so a hotel that takes reservations is the calmer choice.

3

If a typhoon is forecast Check with the hotel that it's open before you set out.
