Yehliu, Shifen, Shifen Waterfall & Jiufen Day Tour: What to Eat in Jiufen
Before a tour of four northern sights in a day, check what to see at each stop and the restaurants in Jiufen's alleys.
Published
This day tour combining the northern coast and mountain villages near Taipei visits Yehliu (野柳), Shifen (十分), Shifen Waterfall (十分瀑布) and Jiufen (九份) in turn. They're hard to fit into one day by public transport, so a tour is easier, and eating dinner in Jiufen's alleys at the last stop keeps the route simple. Based on 交通部觀光署 information, as of October 2026.
01 · What Are the Four Tour Stops?
Yehliu is a coastline of mushroom rocks and tofu rocks carved by seawater and wind, and Shifen is a village with shops lining both sides of the 平溪線 railway. Shifen Waterfall is a curtain-shaped waterfall near Shifen village, and Jiufen is a hillside mining town that boomed after gold was found around 1890.
02 · What Not to Miss at Each Stop
Yehliu's '女王頭' A mushroom rock whose profile resembles a queen. Along the path to the tip of the cape you can see many other rock shapes.
Shifen sky lanterns Releasing a sky lantern (天燈) with your wishes written on it from the railway tracks is the signature experience.
Shifen Waterfall (十分瀑布) A curtain-shaped waterfall called 'Taiwan's Niagara'. It's close to Shifen village, so it's an easy next stop after releasing a sky lantern.
Jiufen's alleys and stone-stair street Food shops line the narrow alley, and on the stone-stair street is A-Mei Teahouse, which became famous as a motif for the animated film Spirited Away.
03 · Getting There
Going on a tour The four sights are far apart, so a tour is easier for doing them in one day. Schedule, inclusions, departure point and time vary by product option. Check the Klook product page before you book.
Going on your own For mixing taxis and buses, see Yehliu & Jiufen: taxi vs bus tour, and for the Shifen train route, see Pingxi Line: Ruifang, Houtong & Shifen.

04 · Shifen's Big Three: Must-Eat Bites
Three spots on Shifen Old Street (十分街) that we personally recommend, easy to drop by after releasing a sky lantern.
Shifen LiouGou Chicken Wing Rice (十分溜哥燒烤雞翅包飯) The taste every bus-tour passenger knows.
Shifen Stinky Tofu (十分寶桂臭豆腐) Just right for trying Taiwanese stinky tofu for the first time.
Shifen Sausage (十分黑豬肉香腸) Eat just one and you'll regret it.
